The Blue Rascal, thankfully, has that increasingly-rare feature … a manually-shifted gearbox. If the current trend continues, eoncoboxes will be the only new cars so equipped (and maybe even those will give way to CVTs). The use of the traditional manual transmission even in sports and performance cars is rapidly fading away. Why? About a foot of snow is still on the ground, and the temp is just over zero. Summer performance tires don’t work so well in these conditions, and my garage is basically unheated. I’m staying indoors, a bit bored, so I vicariously go 944 Cup racing with Van Svenson at Mosport in 2013.
