Turbo Thoughts

Now that I have driven Kevin’s ’89 Turbo and am coming in contact with it frequently, I find myself thinking turbo more than ever before.  I deliberately avoided turbo for my first 944, as a concern around both budget and complexity.  But the driving is an extraordinary experience.  Here is a video, which I saw quite some time ago, but Kevin again brings to our attention.  Externally, the car tested is just about a dead ringer for Kevin’s …….

Well, That Was Fun

C.J., Kevin and I rendezvous at a local park overlook, then proceed into the mountain side roads for a bit of what Porsches are all about.

Stef Schrader

puffalump_stef-schraderI just discovered that she has re-published some of my 944 pins and tumblr posts, including some of my original photos, on her Pinterest board.  Thanks, Stef!

In case, you don’t know, Stef Schrader is an editor at Jalopnik, a contributing writer to Autoweek (where I first discovered her a year or two ago), and also races or raced a 944.  I think she is a Texan.  And she has a sense of humor.  (Who would dare to append a 917 number to a pink 944?)

356 Musings

Was a 356 the car you really wanted?  I remember the first 356 I rode in (I had to curl my 6′ 2″ self across the jump seats as I drew the short straw) but I immediately wanted one, nevertheless.  And the first one I drove?  I had my 911 into a wheel shop when, astonishingly, the owner gave me the keys to his pristine red Cabrio so I could dash across the San Fernando Valley and down the San Diego Freeway (I think they refer to them numerically now) and pick up a part for him while he attended to my car.  Top down in SoCal; I went to heaven that day.

Two or three days ago, this new piece appeared on Jay Leno’s site:
